Sally's Story

I grew up on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the traditional melting pot  for immigrants in New York City.  My background is rich in the diversity of a multi-ethnic, multi-racial eighborhood. My parents were organizers and visionaries for a better world.

What a wonderful legacy has been passed down

to me!

        My father told me stories

     about living in a Jewish

     shtetl in Russia, coming

to the U.S. at the age of

     six, one of eleven children.

My maternal grandfather, self-educated immigrant from Russia, told me stories of working as a mechanic for the New York subway system.

In June of 2004 I had the privilege of publishing a tribute to my mother who      was 80 years old. It was a very special birthday present, and I am so glad I was able to do it while she is still here to appreciate it.

As a mom, I am particularly

    aware of the importance

    of passing down our life

    experiences for future

    generations.
